How to Draw a Text in SolidWorks?
In this tutorial, I will show you how can create and Extrude a Text in SolidWorks.
Open a new part with model units set to millimeters
Go to: File > New > Part
Create a 2D sketch
Select the Front Plane in the feature tree (menu at the left side) and create a sketch by clicking on the 2D Sketch icon
The display changes so the Front plane faces you.
Create a Center Rectangle
Go to Tools > Sketch Entities > Center Rectangle or click on the center rectangle icon
Create a sketch that starts at the Origin.
Change the dimensions of the rectangle to 70 and 500 mm by clicking on the dimension button
Create an Extruded Boss/Base
Go to: Insert > Boss/Base > Extrude or click on the Extrude icon
The Boss-Extrude menu appears
Direction 1 is set to Blind
Change D1 into 10 mm
Click OK
Create another 2D sketch
Select the selected blue surface as shown in the picture and create a new sketch by clicking on the 2D Sketch icon
Create a Horizontal Centerline
Go to Tools > Sketch Entities > Centerline or click on the centerline icon
Change the position of the centerline as shown in the picture by clicking at the dimension button
Now it's time to draw the actual Text in SolidWorks
Go to Tools > Sketch Entities > Text or click at the Text icon
Click at the Horizontal Centerline as Text Curve
Type your text into the Text box
Unable the Use document font option
Now we're going to change the Size and the Font of the text.
Click at the Font option
In the Font box you can pick a Font you'll prefer
In the Font Style box, you can choose between a Regular, Italic, Bold, and Italic Bolt.
In the Height box, you can change the Size and Spaces of the Font
Pick your settings and click OK to apply.
Click at Sketch2 in the Feature Tree to select the Text
Create an Extruded Boss/Base
Go to: Insert > Boss/Base > Extrude or click on the Extrude icon
The Boss-Extrude menu appears
Direction 1 is set to Blind
Change D1 into 5 mm
Click OK
NOTE: If you use a circle or spline as Text Curve
you can warp a Text along a path as shown in the picture
Change the color of the Text Background
Select Extrude1 in the Feature Tree
Click at the Appearances button
Click at Boss-Extrude1
Pick a color you like
Click OK
Change the color of the Text
Select Extrude2 in the Feature Tree
Click at the Appearances button
Click at Boss-Extrude2
Pick a color you like
Click OK
You're done!
